Dimapur, June 10 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has strongly condemned the alleged killing and mutilation of victims by what it described as Kuki militant groups and Kuki Village Volunteers, terming the incidents grave violations of human dignity and crimes against humanity.
In a statement issued by its MIP on June 10, the organisation alleged that the killings and desecration of bodies were intended to spread fear and inflict psychological trauma on affected families and communities, asserting that such acts have no place in a civilised society.
The NSCN (IM) urged the Government of India to take immediate action against the groups it accused of involvement in the incidents and sought their proscription as terrorist organisations, alleging that the deliberate targeting of civilians and use of extreme violence amounted to acts of terrorism.
Further, the organisation also criticised the response of security forces, alleging excessive action against women protesters, student activists and village guards while questioning their handling of the alleged attacks.
Expressing condolences to the families of the victims, the NSCN (IM) said it stood in solidarity with all those affected by the violence and called for those responsible to be brought to justice.
‘The NSCN (IM) will leave no stone unturned until those responsible for this savage act are brought to justice,’ stated the press release.
