Dimapur, June 18 (MExN): The Joint Council of the NSCN (IM) on Thursday reaffirmed its commitment to the Naga political cause and the 2015 Framework Agreement, while endorsing the organisation's Collective Leadership.
The resolutions were unanimously adopted at a Joint Council meeting convened at the Council Headquarters, Hebron, on June 18, where members deliberated on what the organisation described as "critical issues" confronting the Naga national movement, according to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), NSCN (IM).
During the meeting, the council reiterated that the organisation remained committed to the Naga political cause and would not compromise on what it termed the "sacred Naga National Cause."
The council also endorsed and expressed support for the Collective Leadership comprising Yaruiwo Q Tuccu, Kedalo Tongmeth Wangnao, Ato Kilonser Th Muivah and Deputy Ato Kilonser Lt Gen (Retd) VS Atem, VC, for their role in guiding the organisation and the Naga political movement, the statement said.
The Joint Council further reaffirmed its commitment to "protecting, defending and honouring" the Indo-Naga Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015, describing it as the foundational basis for an honourable political settlement, it added.
The NSCN (IM) also called upon Naga citizens, regional authorities and supporters of the Naga cause to remain united behind the Collective Leadership.
