DIMAPUR, APRIL 7 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) on warned of light to moderate rainfall across most districts of the state through April 15, with thunderstorms and lightning expected in isolated areas.
In a press release, the NSDMA said intermittent rain is likely in districts including Kiphire, Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Noklak, Peren, Phek, Shamatore, Tseminyu, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto. Other districts may experience cloudy skies with moderate to overcast rain conditions.
The agency cautioned that hill regions could witness high precipitation, increasing the risk of waterlogging and flash floods in low-lying and foothill areas such as Dimapur, Nuiland, Chumoukedima, Bhandari, Baghty, Tizit and Tuli.
"Necessary precautions must be taken to avoid lightning strikes and high winds, which can disrupt communication and connectivity," the NSDMA said. The Home Department has directed all District Disaster Management Authorities and line departments to stay on high alert during the monsoon season to ensure the safety of lives and property.
