NSDMA forecasts thunderstorms, lightning from July 9 to 12

Kohima, July 8 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by localized thunderstorms and lightning across several districts of the state from July 9 to 12, with weather activity expected to intensify significantly towards the weekend.

According to the advisory issued by the NSDMA, on July 9, thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rain are likely over Kohima, Shamator, Mokokchung, Mon and Wokha districts. Light rainfall is expected at isolated places in Longleng, Noklak, Phek, Tseminyu and Tuensang, while no significant weather activity has been predicted for the remaining districts.

On July 10, scattered intermittent light to moderate rainfall is expected over Shamator and Tuensang, with similar weather likely over Mon. Isolated light rain may occur in Kohima, Longleng, Noklak, Tseminyu and Zunheboto.

The weather system is expected to shift on July 11, with localized thunderstorms, lightning and light rain likely over Peren, Phek, Tseminyu, Wokha, Dimapur and Niuland. Light to moderate rainfall is also forecast at a few places in Kohima, Longleng, Mon and Tuensang.

Weather activity is set to intensify on July 12, with thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by light to moderate rain expected over Kohima, Longleng, Meluri, Mokokchung, Mon, Phek, Shamator, Wokha and Zunheboto. Moderate to heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in Kiphire and Tseminyu, while light to moderate rain is also likely over Dimapur and Tuensang.
