Bengaluru, April 27 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Union Bengaluru (NSUB) organised a candlelight vigil in memory of Chinaoshang Shokwungnao of Tushar village, Yaruingam Vashum of Kharasom village, and Horshokmi Jamang of Chatrik Khullen on April 26.
The vigil, held at Paalanaa Bhavana at 6:30 pm, brought together close to 300 attendees in a solemn gathering marked by reflection, solidarity and collective mourning.
The programme commenced with an invocation by Pastor Tamalong Pongen of the Naga Christian Fellowship Bangalore (NCFB), setting a reverent tone for the evening.
The vigil was led by Vilhu Chalieu, president of the Angami Students’ Union Bangalore (ASUB), who guided the proceedings.
Messages of solidarity were delivered by Yuikan Shirik, founder of Neurons Designs Pvt. Ltd. and a senior member of the Tangkhul community, who emphasised the importance of Naga unity and urged communities to stand together in mutual respect, compassion and collective strength during times of grief and uncertainty.
Kumlanthung Murry, general secretary of NSUB, said, “Let this gathering send a message strong and clear, that we will not be divided by fear, that we will not turn away in silence, and that we will continue to stand for truth, justice and peace.”
The event concluded with a benediction by Pastor Livingson Rakhangmi of the Thangal Fellowship Bangalore (TFB), leaving attendees with a sense of hope, unity and collective strength.
NSUB stated that the vigil was strictly non-political in nature and not intended to promote any political agenda, but to provide a respectful and inclusive space for mourning, reflection and solidarity.
The gathering underscored the importance of unity and compassion, serving as a reminder of the strength found in togetherness during times of sorrow.
