Over 73,000 MGNREGA job cards deleted over credential mismatch: Official

NSSAA conducts fifth phase of MGNREGA, BOCW social audit in Z’boto

The Nagaland State Special Audit Agency (NSSAA) Social Audit Unit (SAU) on August 4 conducted the fifth phase of the district-level social audit and public hearing under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) schemes for the 2026-27 financial year at the VDB Hall in Zunheboto.

The programme was chaired by Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Zunheboto, N Kupto Sema.

Assistant Director of the NSSAA Social Audit Unit, Imlirenla Sanglir, in her introductory address outlined the objectives and process of the social audit, stressing transparency, community participation and accountability in the implementation of government welfare schemes.

She said the system has undergone a major transition to a digital mode and informed that the MGNREGA platform has been migrated to the VB-GRAM G system with effect from July 1.

Sanglir also said that more than 73,000 job cards were deleted in the latest report due to mismatches in credential details. 

During the public hearing, District Resource Persons and Block Resource Persons presented village-wise social audit findings for Tokiye and Suruhuto blocks. The findings were placed before officials and other stakeholders for review and discussion.

Responding to the observations raised during the hearing, Extra Assistant Commissioner (Headquarters), Dr L Chuchong Noklang, acknowledged the importance of the social audit exercise and appreciated the opportunity to participate.

She stressed the need for coordinated efforts among implementing departments and stakeholders to strengthen programme implementation and ensure effective delivery of benefits. She also assured that the district administration would extend full support and cooperation whenever required.
