Parliamentary Secy request to govt over Dikhu Hydro project

Kohima, March 25 (MExN): Parliamentary Secretary, Transport & Mechanical Engineering P.Dako Phom stated that the Dikhu Hydro Electric project is situated on Dikhu river, in Mon District of Nagaland which has come down against the will of the general public since the river falls between Longleng and Mon district and the construction of Project will have more submersion area under Longleng district.
A press note said this nomenclature has caused resentment among the general public, who are refusing to part with their land and cooperate with the proposed Hydro project.
Henceforth, Phom stated that the nomenclature should be changed as Dikhu Hydro Electric project situated on river under Longleng and Mon District, secondly it is obvious that the present proposed Hydro project will submerge the present NEC bridge under construction between Tangha and Kangching village, where it is felt by the people of ‘our’ area that this NEC bridge must not be shifted from the present site at any cost since there might cause diversions of Longleng-Ladigarh NEC road and might cause in-convenience to the people of that area in particular and the Phom people in general.
“As an elected member of that area, I would like to request the government of Nagaland and the Manu Energy systems Pvt. Ltd to postpone the proposed project till the settlement arrive between the Land owner villages and the government of Nagaland and the company involved (Manu energy Systems Pvt. ltd)”, he added.
