Chümoukedima, May 1 (MExN): The Private College Association Nagaland (PCAN) has elected a new executive team led by Er Moa Aier as president at its general meeting held at Tetso College, Chümoukedima.
The meeting, held on April 29, was attended by 24 principals and management representatives from across the state, who resolved to work towards transforming Nagaland into an education hub and strengthening higher education. Participants discussed the need to work more cohesively with Nagaland University and to address issues related to examinations and affiliations in the interest of students.
The newly elected office bearers include vice president Dr Andrew Ahoto (Livingstone Foundation College), general secretary Kvulo Lorin (Tetso College), finance secretary Dr Orenthung Ovung (Unity College, Dimapur), treasurer Dr Medotsino Nakhro (Alder College), and joint secretary Vesato Theluo (Nagaland College of Music and Fine Arts).
An executive committee was also formed comprising Peter Banks (St John’s College, Dimapur), Francis (Model Christian College), Fr Dr C P Anto (NEISSAR), Fr Philip (St Joseph College, Jakhama), Dr Thepvuvilie Pieru (Patkai Christian College), and Diezemeto Peseyie (Sazolie College).
The new leadership has been tasked with addressing a widening communication gap with Nagaland University. Members raised grievances faced by private colleges and stressed the need to build a stronger, united front in coordination with various organisations. The general assembly also resolved to organise an inter-college basketball league this year and explore the feasibility of conducting an inter-college beat contest.
The meeting concluded with a presentation by Dhinakaran on the Morung App, a student information system designed to streamline academic and administrative processes. He highlighted its key features, noting that the digital platform could enhance efficiency for both students and faculty, a move welcomed by participants.
