Dy. CM, T.R. Zeliang chairing the monthly DPDB meeting held at DC's Conference Hall, Peren

PEREN, DECEMBER 6 (MExN): The monthly meeting of the Peren District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall here on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and DPDB Chairman TR Zeliang.

In his address, Zeliang lauded the board’s achievements and congratulated Er. Bursenla Ao, Executive Engineer (PHED), and Dr Namsui Thou, Chief Veterinary Officer, on their recent promotions. He appreciated the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Peren for initiating development activities at the growing district headquarters and commended the regular monthly mass social work as a commendable practice. Zeliang also praised the successful organisation of the Unity Mini Hornbill Festival under the DC’s leadership.

Congratulating the organising committee of the 11th Inter-Departmental Tournament held recently, he said such events help strengthen coordination and foster good relations among departments.

Zeliang underscored the importance of the Information & Public Relations (IPR) department’s role in documentation and urged the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) to compile records of key personalities from the district to preserve its history for future generations.

Appreciating the cooperative spirit among departments, he urged members to continue working in unity and extended Christmas and New Year greetings.

Deputy Commissioner Hiazu Meru welcomed members and thanked the Deputy Chief Minister for renovating the DC’s Office Building and Conference Hall. He congratulated Dr. Thou on his promotion to Additional Director.

Reviewing the Unity Mini Hornbill Festival, the DC said the event’s first two days were successful, highlighting unity among Peren’s diverse communities. He noted that the ‘Green Peren’ brand gained visibility through exhibition stalls showcasing value-added products and urged agriculture and allied departments to geo-tag products to verify origin and maintain authentic data.

Meru expressed concern over low participation from subordinate staff and the public during district events and called for mandatory participation of government servants to boost the district headquarters. For the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, he announced all departments will be required to set up stalls for wider involvement and appealed for sincerity and regularity in duty performance.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, D. Robin, presented a report on the 11th Inter-Departmental Tournament held from November 12 to 14 in Jalukie town.
