Peren Open Volleyball Champ Trophy commences

Peren, September 28 (DIPR): Peren District Open Volleyball Champion Trophy 2011, organized by Mbaupunggwa Lui Sporting Association (MLSA) was inaugurated on September 27 at Peren Town local ground with MLA and Chairman NIDC & NH Ltd, Nagaland, Nuklutoshi as the chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the chief guest extended his appreciation to the organizing committee (MLSA) for conducting the first District Level Volleyball Trophy in memory of Late. Haingeugong Rangkau, who was also a sportsman. He encouraged the participating team to be co-operative and to maintain true team spirit. He said that health is wealth and stated that we must keep our body fit, which is a key to success. He also pointed out that it is high time to take games and sports beyond entertainment and to promote professionalism, which in turn will create employment opportunity. The chief guest also unfurled the tournament flag and declared the tournament open. The inaugural function was attended by ADC Peren, Lungheising; ASP Peren, Roko Walie; Advisor DMC, Lepsi Ao, Prominent Public leaders and Heads of Departments among others. Other highlights included – invocation prayer by Haiku, Pastor PTBC, welcome address by Hupun, speech on behalf of the trophy donor, Akwet, special song, oath taking, etc.
In the inaugural match Old Beisumpui team defeated the Ndunglo ‘A’ Sporting Club.
