Pfütsero: PTBA to observe half-day shutter-down on August 14

Pfütsero, August 13 (MExN): The Pfütsero Town Business Association (PTBA) will observe a half-day shutter-down on August 14 until 12 noon, under the theme “Our Shared History, Our Common Future: A Call for Naga Unity, Reconciliation and Oneness,” to honour the sacrifices of Naga forefathers and reflect on the Naga people’s historical journey and aspirations.

PTBA President Vekusu Chuzho said the observance would also recognise the contribution of national workers to the business community in Phek district and call for greater unity among Naga political groups towards a common political future.

The PTBA reiterated its advocacy for “One Government, One Tax,” with Chuzho stating that multiple taxation and collections adversely affect businesses and the local economy. The association also appealed to Naga political groups, leaders and national workers to rise above differences and work towards a common platform in the larger interest of the Naga people.

PTBA General Secretary Truvui Rhi said remembrance of the past should inspire the present generation to work towards a united and peaceful future, including creating opportunities for youth to remain and contribute in Nagaland. From a Christian perspective, he highlighted forgiveness, humility, reconciliation, love, justice and concern for others.

PTBA Media Secretary Huveta Thuluo said the sacrifices and struggles of Naga forefathers remain a shared inheritance and called for August 14 to be observed in a spirit of respect, remembrance and reflection.
