Phek, January 21(MExN): The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Phek, at its meeting held on January 21 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Phek, discussed the urgent need for posting of medical officers against nine primary health centres (PHCs) functioning without doctors under the Chief Medical Officer, Phek, including those in the newly upgraded Meluri district.
The issue of shortage of medical officers in the nine PHCs was highlighted to the members during a PowerPoint presentation on departmental activities by Dr Sedeu Rupreo, District Programme Manager, Phek.
Advisor for CAWD and Taxes and advisor to DPDB Phek, Kudecho Khamo, expressed concern over healthcare services, terming them of utmost importance for citizens, and informed the house that the process for posting medical officers in the PHCs would be initiated soon.
The meeting also deliberated on the naming of roads and institutions after prominent Naga personalities in the district, in accordance with directives received from the Home Department, Government of Nagaland.
ADC Phek Thehakhrienuo Nisa presented a report on the Inter-Departmental Sports Tournament held from November 4 to 6, 2025, in which the DEF, Phek, emerged as the overall champion.
Deputy Commissioner Phek Rhosietho Nguori, who chaired the meeting, urged officers and DPDB members to show greater concern and actively participate in the monthly mass social work held in Phek town. He also reminded heads of offices to attend DPDB meetings regularly and directed officers to represent their departments in all development activities of the district.
