Plastic waste Management Unit in Chunlikha Block inaugurated

ADC Tseminyu Kikumsungla Jamir, NCS inaugurates the Plastic waste Management Unit at Chunlikha Block on March 27.

Tseminyu, March 27 (MExN): The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Kohima Rural Division, organised a brief inaugural programme for PWMU (Plastic waste Management Unit) at Chunlikha Block on March 27. 

The unit was inaugurated by Kikumsungla Jamir, NCS Additional Deputy Commissioner Tseminyu, stated a press release issued by Ashale Seb, District Coordinator, PHED Kohima Division.

In her inaugural speech, Jamir emphasised the urgent need for environmental responsibility, stating, Our environment is facing severe destruction, and we must act now to protect it for future generations. She urged the Village Councils, WATSAN committees, GBs (Gaon Burahs), and other stakeholders to actively participate in waste reduction efforts by adopting sustainable behavioral changes.   

She encouraged village leaders to take ownership of government assets installed in their villages and across the block to ensure their proper maintenance and longevity.  

The programme was followed by a demonstration of a shredding machine. The Tseminyu District Green Initiatives has proposed to take over the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of the unit. 

The programme was attended by WATSAN committee members, Village Council representatives, and GBs from 13 villages under Chunlikha Block.
