Police not authorised to impose fines for ILP violations: Nagaland Police

Dimapur, June 2 (MExN): The Nagaland Police today stated that its personnel are not authorised to impose fines on individuals for not possession of Inner Line Permit (ILP) documents.

The Nagaland Police will be conducting checks for ILP in the State from time to time, but police personnel are not authorised to impose any fines for non-possession of ILP papers or valid documents, the police clarified in a statement.

Only 'Magistrates' can impose fines for ILP violations, it stressed. Accordingly, if any police personnel are found indulging in such practices, the same may be reported to senior officers, it added.
