KOHIMA, MARCH 30 (MExN): Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, held a retirement program in honor of Prof. Glenn T. Thong, a senior professor from the Department of Geology and former Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the campus. The event, attended by faculty members, administrative staff, students, scholars, and well-wishers, recognized his contributions to the university's academic and institutional development.

Speakers highlighted Prof. Thong’s pivotal role in advancing the university, particularly his efforts in the relocation of the School of Engineering to Kohima Campus despite significant challenges. In his farewell address, he urged faculty and scholars to prioritize academic excellence and work towards improving the university’s rankings, emphasizing the importance of teamwork between teaching and administrative staff.

The program, chaired by Prof. Jano S. Liegise, Dean of Humanities & Education, featured performances by faculty members and student representatives, along with speeches from various university bodies. Prof. Thong was felicitated by multiple departments and student organizations, with colleagues commending his leadership, humility, and dedication.

The ceremony concluded with the singing of the university anthem by the NUCF Choir, as the academic community expressed gratitude for Prof. Thong’s years of service.
