Phek, June 7 (MExN): The Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (PTCSU) has expressed its solidarity with the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) over concerns regarding the continued delay in the execution of the NH-29 (Kohima–Jessami Road) Package-II project.
In a letter of solidarity issued on June 5, the PTCSU said it shares the CSU’s dissatisfaction over the prolonged delay in completing the road project, which it described as a vital infrastructure initiative for the region.
According to the union, the project has not been completed within the stipulated timeframe despite repeated assurances and extensions granted to the executing agencies. It maintained that the delay has caused inconvenience to the public and adversely affected socio-economic activities across the region.
The PTCSU further stated that the concerns raised by the CSU reflect the collective aspirations and grievances of people who depend on the road for connectivity, commerce and development. It commended the CSU for consistently advocating transparency, efficiency and quality workmanship in the implementation of the project.
Expressing support for the CSU’s position, the PTCSU called for immediate intervention, strict accountability and the expeditious completion of the project. It also urged the authorities and contractors concerned to honour their commitments and ensure that the work is completed without further delay.
The union emphasised that public infrastructure projects funded through public resources should be executed with responsibility, transparency and adherence to agreed timelines, adding that any deviation from these principles undermines public trust and hampers regional development.
Reaffirming its support, the PTCSU stated that it stands in complete solidarity with the CSU and would extend cooperation in all legitimate and constructive efforts aimed at ensuring the timely completion, proper maintenance and long-term sustainability of the NH-29 project for the benefit of present and future generations.
