Public Forum Pungro demands field officer in SBI within 7 days

Pungro, January 29 (MExN): The Public Forum Pungro Sub-Division has issued a 7 day ultimatum demanding immediate retention or posting of a Field Officer at the State Bank of India (SBI) Pungro Branch, warning of branch closure if the issue is not resolved within the stipulated period.

In a press statement, the Forum referred to its earlier representation dated December 15, 2025, regarding transfer of the Field Officer from SBI Pungro Branch without the posting of any reliever. The Forum stated that this has resulted in “serious disruption of essential banking services at Pungro.”

“It is deeply regretted that no response, communication or intimation has been received from your office even after submitting our earlier representation,” the statement said.

According to the Forum, the continued absence of a Field Officer has caused “extreme hardship to the general public, particularly senior citizens, daily wage earners, government scheme beneficiaries and other account holders who are entirely dependent on the Pungro Branch for their basic banking needs.”

The Public Forum Pungro Sub-Division clarified that it is not seeking the posting of any particular individual. “We once again clarify, unequivocally, that the Public Forum Pungro Sub-Division is not demanding the posting of any specific officer,” the statement said. It added, “Our sole and genuine demand is either the immediate retention of a Field Officer or the urgent posting of a suitable reliever at SBI Pungro Branch in the interest of uninterrupted public service.”

The forum said the latest representation should be treated as a final ultimatum. “This letter may kindly be treated as a final ultimatum,” it stated, adding that a final period of “Seven (7) days reckoning from the date of this ultimatum” has been granted to resolve the matter through the immediate posting of a Field Officer at the branch.

The Forum warned that failure to comply within the seven-day period would compel it to take further steps. “Failing which, the Public Forum Pungro Sub-Division shall be left with no alternative but to resort to democratic and peaceful measures, including the closure of SBI Pungro Branch after the expiry of the 7-day ultimatum, until such time a Field Officer is posted,” the statement said.

It further stated that “any inconvenience, disruption of banking services or consequences arising thereof shall solely rest upon the concerned authorities.”
