Clarification sought from NPSC on answer keys
Clarification sought from the NPSC to some of the answer keys published in the Local newspapers. There seem to some blatantly erroneous answers given by the Commission, which I feel is extremely important for the NPSC to rectify. It is expected on the part of the expert committee to be constituted by the NPSC to sagaciously and assiduously do in depth research from verifiable sources including the Internet to get the correct answers to all the questions. The following are some of the contentious Questions and Answers of Booklet series B.
1. Question no 1: Pointing to a woman in a photograph a man says, “ Her mother’s mother is the mother of my father”. How is the man related to the woman in the photograph?
Ans: None of the options are correct.
Explanation; Since the man happens to be the first cousin of the woman in the photograph from his father’s side, the correct answer should be PATERNAL COUSIN and not maternal cousin (option B). The woman in the photograph is the man’s father’s niece. Since the question asked is “how is the man related to the woman in the photograph” and not how is the woman related to the man? Any relationship that we share from our father’s side is PATERNAL. Had the questioned asked been the former ie, how is the woman related to the woman than the answer would have been Maternal cousin. But that was not the given question.

Correct Answer is Option D and not C.
Explanation: P is to the left of V, meaning V is sitting on the right of P. R is 4th to the right of P, meaning R is sitting 4 places on the right of P, and hence P is second right of R (since there are only six girls sitting in a circle).

NPSC answer
keys error
This write -up is to point out some few errors found in the answer keys published by the NPSC The answers here are of the Test Booklet series (A).
Q.99. The answer should be option (D), 2009 and not option (C) 2008. 2008 was the year in which the movie was released i.e Slumdog Millionaire and 2009 was the year in which it won the Oscar Award
Q.138. This question is highly debatable and I would like the Commission to refer to an expert to re-evaluate the answer printed.
Q.139. The answer should be option (B) Tiger and not (D) Panther as printed. Check out the R.B.I insignia its so obvious or google it.
Q.144. The answer should be option (A) and not (C). When the value of exports exceeds the value of imports, how can it be unfavourable balance of trade. It can only be favourable balance of trade; the commission can check any good economics books.
Q.181. It should be option (A) the village, block and district and not option (C) the village, district and state levels.
Q.183. None of the given options given has the right answer, there are only ten rectangles. For this question marks should be given to all candidates. Some had no choice but to tick one or the other options due to confusion, while some didn't tick any since the options given were all wrong.
Q.189. Option (D) healthy eco-communities is wrong, it should be option (B) Healthy religious communities.
Coming to Q. 107, what the NPSC printed is correct i.e option (A) To increase national Income and not option (D) to increase standard of living, as pointed out by some candidates. The First Plan aimed at building the economic base of the country, only in the following plans did the government focused on the other aspects like the standard of living, social justice and economic inequality.
Had the answer keys not been published in the papers, I’m sure for the past few years i would've never passed the Prelims Exam. Thanks to The NPSC for publishing the answer keys, it should continue to do so. But am just so surprised at the incompetency of those who are preparing the questions, how can errors continue even after it has been pointed out for the past two years. The Commission which recruits the elite is expected to maintain very high standards, this is ridiculous. We the candidates find it no fun to hurl rotten tomatoes at the Commission, trust us its no fun but we are given with no choice. As pointed out earlier the Commission should continue printing the answer keys in the future.

Ans:- (C) give grants to religious institutions, and not (E) ban things done in the name of religion that violate the rights of some citizens (ref.D.D.Basu).
Much has been written in the past and is being written today on the inefficiently of the NPSC but unfortunately ,it is felt that so much more is still left to be done .We, as aspirants take this exam with utmost seriousness because a margin of 0.50 mark difference could decide the fate of a candidate’s qualification or disqualification for the next stage of examination .The NPSC as the higher recruiting agency of the State is therefore requested to rectify the errors and the deserving candidates be awarded marks accordingly.
