Railways cancels all trains, except Shramik special trains till May 17

Maligaon, May 2 (MExN): The Indian Railways said that all passenger trains have been cancelled till May 17 due to the extension of the lockdown.

 

However, special trains to facilitate movement of migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, students and people stranded at different places will continue. Shramik special trains services that started on Friday will run as and when required by the state governments, following the guidelines issued by the home ministry, a statement from the NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer said.

 

“Accordingly, all trains including long-distance, Intercity, local passenger and Narrow Gauge trains will remain cancelled till midnight of May 17. So, all passenger carrying trains coming towards N.F. Railway and originating from N.F. Railway will also remain cancelled. No journey tickets are being issued to the passenger for travel and so no one should come to Railway Station,” the statement said.

 

The national transporter's freight services will however, remain as usual. The government will ensure supply of essentials across various parts of the country, with the movement of goods and parcel trains.
