Maligaon, April 11 (MExN): In a major passenger-friendly initiative, Indian Railways has extended the facility for change of boarding point up to the time of preparation of the second reservation chart, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) said.
The move is aimed at improving travel flexibility, strengthening passenger convenience and enhancing the overall journey experience by enabling seamless planning and accommodating dynamic travel needs, it said.
Earlier, passengers were allowed to change their boarding point only till the preparation of the first reservation chart.
“With this enhanced provision, passengers can now modify their boarding station at a later stage, allowing greater flexibility, improved journey planning and a smoother, more comfortable travel experience,” NFR said in a statement.
The initiative reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to providing a more convenient, seamless and passenger-centric travel experience, it added.
NFR welcomed the step, stating that it is expected to enhance passenger satisfaction and benefit a large number of travellers across the region, while reinforcing the Railways’ focus on service excellence and improvement in passenger amenities.
The required system upgrades have been implemented by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), facilitating the introduction of the enhanced facility.
NFR said it has taken steps to disseminate the information widely across communication channels to ensure maximum awareness among passengers.
Passengers have been advised to make use of the facility and verify journey details through official railway platforms prior to travel.
