Guwahati, April 8 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will be operating parcel express trains as per fixed Time table timings towards Dibrugarh and Mendipathar (Meghalaya) to ensure transportation of essential goods in small quantity in the wake of COVID-19 to parts of Assam & Meghalaya.
The parcel express train towards Mendipathar (Meghalaya) will start from New Guwahati/Guwahati on April 12 with stoppage at Dhudnoi for loading and unloading of Parcel packages during its journey.
The parcel express train will start from Guwahati at 10:20am on April 12. It will arrive Dhudnoi at 1:25 pm and leave at 2:15 pm. It will arrive Mendipathar at 2:40 pm same day. The return journey the parcel express train will start from Mendipathar at 1:00 pm on April 13 at 2:15 pm and Guwahati at 5:20pm. Parcel booking for this train will remain open from 10:00 am of April 10 to 6:00 pm of April 11 for Guwahati – Mendipathar portion and 10:00 am of April 11 to 6:00 pm of April 12 for Mendipathar – Guwahai portion.

Similarly, NFR will be operating another parcel express train towards Dibrugarh on April 13 from Guwahati at 7:00 am with 15 minute stoppages at Hojai, Lumding Jn, Diphu, Dimapur, Sarupathar, Furkating Jn, Mariani Jn, Simaluguri Jn & New Tinsukia during its journey for loading / un-loading of items. This train will from Lumding at 11:45 am, from Dimapur at 1:30 pm, from Mariani at 5:25 pm, from New Tinsukia at 9:25 pm before reaching Dibrugarh at 10:40 pm. Parcel booking for this train will remain open from 10:00 am of April 11 to 6:00 pm of April 12.

The railway parcel vans have been made available for quick mass transportation across the nation for the needy E - Commerce companies and other customers including State governments. Provision of Parcel trains and rapid transportation of goods will further bolster the efficiency of supply chains during the lock down period. This will help in movement of essential items viz. Dairy Products, Medical Equipments and Medicines, Groceries, Edible oil and other necessary items like baby food etc. in small quantities as well.
Parcel trains are running between Changsari – Kalyan, Sealdah/Howrah – Guwahati and back, New Delhi – Guwahati and back, Shalimar – Changsari and back, Bangalore – Guwahati and back, Ahmedabad – Guwahati and back with all necessary items for common people. More than 100 such parcel trains are planned to run with fixed running time till April 16.
