RD provides employment to 4.07 lakh households in Nagaland

Nagaland Governor La Ganesan today said that the Department of Rural Development has generated 177.4 lakh mandays and provided employment to 4.07 lakh households, involving 4.67 lakh individuals during the current financial year under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

The Department is also implementing a community-led poverty reduction programme in 1260 villages under 74 RD Blocks covering all the districts through Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM).

The programme has benefitted more than 1.24 lakh rural households through 14,487 Self Help Groups (SHGs).

These SHGs have formed themselves into 1143 Village Level Organisations (VLOs) and 85 Cluster Level Federations (CLFS).

“My Government continues on its mission to drive development and growth in the less developed regions of our state,” he said.

The Department of Underdeveloped Areas (DUDA) is actively taking up activities to fill up the developmental gaps in the backward regions of the state in the areas of infrastructural development, education, healthcare, livelihood, and economic development etc through the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) and Underdeveloped Areas Programme (UDAP).

The construction of the Konyak Heritage Complex at Mon, a NEC funded project, which is going to be an iconic platform to preserve and showcase the rich and colourful culture of the Konyak people is nearing completion and is going to be inaugurated shortly, he said.
