Red Run Marathon held in Mokokchung to raise HIV awareness

Mokokchung, July 31 (MExN): The District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU/DISHA), Mokokchung, under the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), organised the fourth edition of the Red Run Marathon on July 31 with the theme, "Every Step Counts Against HIV and STIs."

The marathon was flagged off from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung by District Youth and Sports Officer Dheeraj in the presence of District Tuberculosis Officer Dr Toshila.

Addressing the participants, Dheeraj lauded their collective efforts in supporting the cause of HIV and AIDS prevention. The event aimed to encourage healthy lifestyles among young people, promote safe sexual behaviour, and increase awareness about HIV and AIDS-related services.

A total of 46 participants in the 17-25 years age group took part in the marathon.

Following the race, Dheeraj and Dr Toshila presented certificates and cash prizes to the winners. The first, second and third prize winners in both the men's and women's categories received cash awards of Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,500 respectively. The winners will represent Mokokchung district at the state-level Red Run Marathon.

In the men's category, Takasanen Longkumer secured first place, followed by Mukom C in second and Sangthing in third.

In the women's category, Jemie P finished first, Chonglem P came second, and Nukshimongla secured third place.
