Kohima, March 25 (MExN): A two-day refresher training course for ASHA under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) was held on March 24 and 25 at the CMO office, Kohima.
A press release received here stated that the training was attended by ASHAs based in Kohima Urban colonies. During the course of the training, they were imparted knowledge and skills with focus on Maternal and Child health, Non-Communicable Diseases and other National Health Programmes. The training focused on skill development combined with practical sessions in various health aspects which will enable the ASHA to carry out field activities effectively, especially during home visitations.
Over the years, despite multiple challenges, ASHAs have been silently serving as the backbone of the health sector. These community health volunteers have been bridging the gap between the community and the public health system, promoting health education, hygiene, sanitation, nutrition and ensuring timely access to health care for the community.
