Peren, August 4 (MExN): The Spices Board Office, Dimapur, in collaboration with Ahthibung Farmers Producer Company Ltd, organised a regional seminar on ginger and Naga King Chilli at the KIN Conference Hall in Ahthibung Town, Peren district.
The programme was moderated by Adelah Poumai of the Spices Board Office, Dimapur, while Aakam Pame of Basix Krishi Samruddhi, a handholding and service provider, delivered the introductory and welcome address. The programme began with a prayer by Ruzo Pame, Pastor of New Beisumpui Baptist Church.
District Field Consultant of the District Horticulture Office, Peren, Benathung Lotha, delivered the first technical session on entrepreneurship, market linkages, business development and value addition for Naga King Chilli.
He highlighted entrepreneurial opportunities, strategies for strengthening market linkages and business development, and stressed the importance of value addition to improve the marketability and income potential of Naga King Chilli. He also encouraged farmers to adopt value-added practices for sustainable livelihoods and enterprise development.
The second session was conducted by Samsing Taro, Field Officer of the Spices Board Office, Dimapur, who spoke on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), scientific methods of ginger cultivation, disease management and the adoption of natural and organic farming practices.
He also highlighted the diverse uses of ginger and its growing importance in global markets.
In his concluding remarks, Aakam Pame encouraged farmers to apply the knowledge gained during the seminar in their respective villages and work towards improving agricultural productivity and farm-based enterprises.
A total of 103 farmers from eight villages under Ahthibung subdivision in Peren district attended the seminar.
