Zunheboto | July 15

After nearly two days without electricity, relief appears to be in sight for residents and businesses in Project Colony, Zunheboto, with a replacement transformer expected to arrive from Dimapur on Thursday.

Project Colony has been without power since the evening of July 14 after a major transformer was damaged due to overloading, disrupting electricity supply to households, commercial establishments and government offices in the area.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Junior Engineer (JE) Pushito of the Power Department, Zunheboto, said the main transformer located near the PWD Office developed a fault after being overloaded.

The transformer supplies electricity to a large service area, including government offices, commercial establishments and residential localities in Project Colony.

According to the JE, the overloading was primarily caused by heavy power consumption associated with ongoing construction activities in the area.

He informed that a replacement transformer is being transported from Dimapur and is expected to reach Zunheboto on Thursday. Installation and restoration work will begin immediately upon its arrival.

The department expects electricity supply to be restored by the evening of July 16, subject to the successful installation and testing of the new transformer.

Appealing for public cooperation, JE Pushito requested affected consumers to bear with the inconvenience and remain patient, assuring them that the department is making every effort to restore power at the earliest.
