Dimapur, Oct 21 (MExN): A meeting of elected office bearers of six villages was held October 16 at TTA Conference Hall convened and facilitated by NPMHR, Ukhrul and RLGU under ‘Oikos Protection Programme’. The meeting reaffirmed the following resolutions (Given verbatim):
• We prefer the rule of law rather than rule of the elites,
• Involving the people in making decisions ensures people’s participation in implementing them and
• We agree to work for changing the society to meet people’s need,
Having made the genesis, the house took the following resolutions: have a model constitution for village governance (The task is entrusted with the facilitating agencies), to hold a 2nd meeting on the December 5, 2006 and to invite delegates from more villages to join the democratization movement, according to Alung Rungsung, Coordinator NPMHR, Ukhrul.
