Maligaon, November 4 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway under the Lumding division teamed up with CIB, SIB & GRP team of Lumding and apprehended a female passenger from train No. 12068 DN, Jan Shatabdi Express at Lumding railway station on November 3. The team recovered two bags with unaccounted cash around Rs 33.70 lakh from her possession. She was detained and handed over to GRP/Lumding along with cash for further course of action.
In a separate incident, on November 2, RPF team of Purnea outpost, acting on information received and carried a raid & search operation at “Waquer Common Service Centre” located at Main market, Purnea, Bihar. The team seized 27 numbers of illegal railway e-tickets, valued above Rs 44,000 along with electronic gadgets used during the booking process. The apprehended person was prosecuted under Railways Act.
Similarly, on November 2, a joint team of CIB & CPDS of Alipurduar Jn, along with a team of RPF/ New Alipurduar, acted upon information received and carried out a search operation at PRS ticketing counter of New Alipurduar railway station and apprehended one person involved in illegal touting activities of railway tickets.
Six railway tickets valued above Rs 26,000 were recovered from the person during the raid. Along with the tickets the joint team also seized 01 mobile handset, 02 blank reservation forms and cash around Rs 10,000 from his possession. Further, the person was also prosecuted under Railways Act.
