
Kohima | March 23 : A short programme was held at 4th Battalion, Thizama to inaugurate a water plant. The chief guest for the occasion was Deo Nukhu, Advisor, Science and Technology, Art& Culture and NRE, Nagaland.
In his speech, the chief guest expressed his surprise that the PHE still had not supplied water to the age old battalion. He also expressed happiness at the fact that the battalion had finally got access to clean drinking water thanks to The Science and Technology Department. The battalion currently has over 3000 in population including the family members of the jawans.
Nukhu also added that the water plant is capable of giving 5000lts per day, which unfortunately will not be enough for the huge battalion. He also promised to bring one more water plant to the area, seeing the need of the population.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Dr. Zavei Hiese, Sr Scientist, Dept. of Science & Technology, Nagaland and Y. Kikon (NCS) Secretary, Science & Technology and NRE, Nagaland.
