Guwahati, April 3 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railways today assured that the safe of trains which are transporting essential commodities is being ensured.

A press release from the NFR stated that to reduce the possibility of spreading COVID-19, only a skeletal staff from the essential categories that are directly connected with train operations are on their job.

In this scenario the huge task of ensuring safe running of trains has become more imperative, as freight trains have to move day and night without any interruption. And for this monitoring the safety of on-duty officials are also very crucial apart from maintenance of vital assets. Officials from departments like Carriage & Wagon, Train Crew, Track maintenance, Signal & Telecom, Traffic cum Commercial are on their job without fail.

For maintaining communication, various department wise and division wise communication groups have been made for providing real time information about train operation by ensuring safety. As a result, any issue pertaining to safety in any location which may arise due to shortage of on-duty officials are being promptly addressed.

As a result, NFR stated that it has been able to ensure100% safe movement of freight trains in all divisions; increase in awareness of staff for personal safety and to reduce human failure causing accidents; sanitization of train engine, guard cabins and crew rest room day and night; and availability of personal protection kit for frontline staff and maintaining Social Distance among them.

It has also looked into issue of road travel pass from district administration for staff involved in performing essential duty during lock down period.

Fitness check is conducted on all on-duty officials along with their families frequently.
