Medziphema, March 11 (MExN): The School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, inaugurated its 28th Annual Sports Week 2025 on March 11. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Achumbemo Kikon, MLA and Chairman, SDPDB Bhandari. 

Addressing the students, Kikon underscored the importance of leadership, education, and integrity in shaping the nation’s future. Emphasizing the vital role of youth in politics and governance, he remarked, “Our future is decided by politicians and politics, so we must nurture good leaders for society.” He encouraged students to uphold ethical values, engage in clean elections, and refrain from selling or buying votes, emphasizing that meaningful change begins with responsible citizens.

The chief guest also highlighted the significance of agriculture in India’s development, noting that the sector contributes 16-17% to the national GDP and sustains the livelihoods of 43% of the population. He praised SAS for its disciplined environment and urged students to stay committed to their goals. “Our country expects a lot from capable young men and women. Success is not just about intelligence but about consistency,” he stated. 

Speaking on the importance of sports, Kikon described it as a powerful tool for developing discipline and leadership skills. He encouraged students to actively participate in sports, recognizing its role in fostering teamwork, resilience, and dedication.

The event officially commenced with the special guest kicking off the football match.
