SCERT apologises for textbook error involving Khiamniungan tribe name

Dimapur, May 25 (MExN): The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Nagaland, has apologised for a spelling error in the name of the Khiamniungan tribe that appeared in the Nagaland Heritage Studies (Alternative English) Class 8 textbook. According to a DIPR report, in a letter addressed to the President of the Khiamniungan Students’ Union, Noklak, the SCERT stated that the tribe’s name was incorrectly printed as “Khiamniungam” instead of “Khiamniungan.”

SCERT further stated that textbooks are important learning resources for students and admitted that such errors could create confusion and inconvenience.

It also assured that corrective measures would be taken to prevent similar mistakes in future publications.

The institution appreciated the observations and feedback provided regarding the error and reiterated its regret over the oversight while seeking cooperation and understanding from the concerned parties.
