Kohima, January 17 (MExN): A weeklong long 57th sports meet of Secheku Range Sports Association (SRSA) got underway at Chizami under the theme “Dare to Dream, Courage to Achieve” on January 17.
Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, Advisor NRE & NSDMA, Government of Nagaland graced the opening ceremony as the special guest. Addressing the gathering, Nyuthe maintained that sports promote peace and unity in the society. In this, he called upon the affiliated units of the SRSA to build better relationship and spread the message of peace and unity for social well-being.
The advisor also challenged the sports lovers to maintain consistency to attain proficiency. “Do it consistently in anything with endurance and determination,” he said. There is no shortcut to success in any field, he said and encouraged the youth to focus one thing at time in whatever they do. He said that the people of Chizami and Pochury have a strong bound of relationships as Christianity was first brought to Pochury land by missionary Sare.
Nyuthe also praised KG Kenye, Minister for Power & Parliamentary Affairs who through his initiation could conduct election for urban local bodies in the state. Further, he thanked the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) and Minister Of Power & Parliamentary Affairs in getting Meluri District.
The people of Chakhesang and Pochury will have a strong bound of brotherhood relationships in whatever ways and even in the days to come, he said.
Earlier, SRSA president Pute Doulo delivered presidential address while Chizami Village Council chairman Kewepelo Tsuhah delivered welcome address.
The programme was led by SRSA Press & Media Secretary Webeko Akami while SRSA Games & Sports Secretary, R Paul Krocha administered oath to the participating teams. The meet will conclude on January 24 with Roko Angami, OSD (Sports), Youth Resources & Sports department, Nagaland and former international football player as the guest of honour.
