Two medal winners from Nagaland
Dimapur, March 26 (MExN): The Indian Sepaktakraw team won a total of seven medals in the Sepaktakraw World Cup, held at Pataliputra Sports Complex Indoor Stadium, Patna, from March 20 to 25.
One of the highlights of the event was a historic gold for India in the Men’s Regu team, informed the Nagaland Sepaktakraw Association (NPA) in a press release.
The women’s team also won a bronze medal in the Regu event.
In the Quad event, the men’s and women’s teams won bronze medals.
In the mixed quad event, the Indian team won a bronze medal, while in the doubles event, the women’s team won silver and the men’s team won bronze.
Menenu Tsukru from Nagaland was part of the Indian women’s team that clinched a silver medal in the quad event and a bronze in the doubles event.
Seyiekhrieno Tepa was also part of the women’s Regu event team that won bronze.
A total of twenty countries participated in the six-day event.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the achievement of the Indian team.
“Congratulations to our contingent for displaying phenomenal sporting excellence at the Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025! The contingent brings home 7 medals,” he posted on X.
“The Men’s Regu team created history by bringing home India’s first Gold. This spectacular performance indicates a promising future for India in the global Sepak Takraw arena,” he added.
The NPA also extended its congratulations to the Indian team for their victory and commendable performance in all the events.
