DIMAPUR, JULY 21 (MExN): Training programmes on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls 2026 were conducted in Meluri and Kiphire on July 21, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and other election personnel briefed on procedures, responsibilities and measures to ensure accurate and error-free electoral rolls.
Meluri: A one-day training programme for BLOs and Supervisors under the 20 Meluri Assembly Constituency was held at the DB’s Court, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Meluri.
Addressing the programme, Deputy Commissioner Meluri Phuleshe K Yepthomi acknowledged that BLOs may encounter challenges and considerable pressure during the SIR exercise and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity, dedication and impartiality.
Yepthomi stressed that BLOs should be well acquainted with the people in their assigned areas and carefully verify the identity and eligibility of every elector before inclusion in the electoral roll. He also emphasised the need to ensure that every person enrolled genuinely exists and is eligible for registration.
Calling for an error-free electoral roll, the DC said ‘Clean Electoral Roll and Clean Elections’ should be the guiding motto of the exercise.
EAC & AERO Meluri Pipfusa Pojar provided an overview of the SIR and highlighted October 1, 2026 as the qualifying date for revision of the electoral rolls.
Amo Thurr, Trainer of Trainers (ToT), EBRC Meluri and Master Trainer for BLOs, conducted a session on the roles and responsibilities of BLOs and Supervisors, including the use of the BLO App. The training concluded with an interactive and doubt-clearing session.
Kiphire: A one-day Phase-III SIR 2026 training for BLOs under the 59 Seyochung-Sitimi Assembly Constituency was held at the DC’s Conference Hall, Kiphire.
Assistant Election Officer Aben Yanthan said the training was aimed at equipping election officials with the knowledge and procedures required to undertake a comprehensive revision of electoral rolls in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
Yanthan urged the 61 BLOs attendees to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity, impartiality and diligence to ensure that every eligible citizen is enrolled.
Master Trainer Atingse conducted sessions on the SIR process, procedures, documentation requirements and the roles and responsibilities of BLOs. Assistant Programmer Suliba T Sangtam also attended the programme.
Officials highlighted that the exercise seeks to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll while improving the accuracy and quality of voter data. The programme concluded with an interactive session, informed the State DIPR.
