Department of Social Work, St Joseph University, Chümoukedima, organised the 3rd edition Social Work Fest, 2025 on April 9 and 10.
Chümoukedima, April 10 (MExN): The Department of Social Work, St Joseph University, Chümoukedima, organised the 3rd edition Social Work Fest, 2025 with the theme ‘Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing’ on April 9 and 10.
Besides the host University, participants from University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya and North-East Institute for Social Science Research, Chümoukedima took part in the fest.
On the first day, Jenpu Rongmei, Founder and Chief Functionary of Can Youth, was the special guest. In his address, Rongmei encouraged students to embrace the evolving role of social work, which extends beyond charity, and to contribute to the welfare of society. He emphasised the importance of internships and remaining true to one's values. Sharing his personal journey, he urged students to rise to challenges and make meaningful contributions to society.
The second day R Lungleng, host of The Lungleng Show was the special guest. He spoke on the theme ‘Preserving and Fostering Cultural Values through Inter-Generational Transmission,’ highlighting the importance of personal transformation, open dialogue, and shared responsibilities across generations. He inspired students to seize opportunities and contribute positively to society, engaging them in a thought-provoking interactive session on political and cultural issues, as well as his own journey of transformation.
The fest featured a variety of engaging activities, including documentary video presentations, E-games, singing and debate competitions, street plays, and painting contests.
