Students from Manipur undertake national integration tour

Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): A 13 day National Integration Tour (NIT) for 26 students, 14 boys and 12 girls, from Tengnoupal district Manipur was flagged off by Maj Gen Vijay Jotwani, Chief of Staff, HQ Spear Corps, at Rangapahar Military Station on February 23 on its successful completion.

According to PRO & spokesperson Defence, Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh the students visited various places of interest in New Delhi and Dehradun.

The tour had commenced on February 10 from Pallel  under Manipur and went through Kohima War Cemetery, where they paid homage to the fallen soldiers. On reaching Delhi, participants visited the Rashtrapati Bhawan, India Gate, National War Memorial, Chandni Chowk, Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar and the National Modern Art Gallery. The students also visited the National Security Guards (NSG) wherein they interacted with the Commandant, Sudipto Das, IPS and witnessed an impressive dog show and weapons display.
At Dehradun, the students were taken to Indian Military Academy (IMA), the premier training institute for the Indian Army. The students interacted with Lt Gen Sandeep Jain, SM, Commandant, IMA and witnessed training being imparted to the cadets by visiting the firing range, swimming pool and other locations.

This was followed by an interaction with Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd). 
“This tour provided a never before experience of life in a cosmopolitan town to these students from remote areas and served as a platform to share insights, experiences, and ideas aimed at furthering the objectives of national integration and harmony,” it further mentioned.
