Cases rise to seven

Authorities of the Manipur government have declared yet two institutional quarantine centres as containment zones after three more persons – mother and son and a young woman who recently returned to the state--- tested positive for the COVID-19 on Saturday. With the three fresh cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Manipur has risen to seven of whom five are active cases as the first two individuals were already discharged from the hospitals. It can be noted here that another woman was also tested positive for COVID-19 late Friday night. Meanwhile, among the three cases confirmed on Saturday, two are mother and son hailing from Moreh town of Tengnoupal district but lodging at an institutional quarantine centre in Imphal since their arrival in Imphal from outside the state. A 71-year-old woman and his 48-year-old son were tested at VDRL, RIMS and the results returned COVID-19 positive. They are now admitted in the COVID care centre, RIMS, according to an official press release of the COVID-19 Common Control Room of Manipur government on Saturday evening. They were part of a group of 36 people returning from Mumbai on May 8 by bus. They reached Manipur on May 13 but all the rest co-passengers were tested negative for the virus, the press release informed.
