The Tiranga Yatra was conducted in Mokokchung on May 31, under the theme “In Solidarity with our Indian Armed Forces” and in commemoration of Operation Sindoor. The event was initiated by the Concerned Citizens for National Security and witnessed participation from over 700 individuals across various sectors, the organizers said.
The march commenced from Imkongmeren Sports Complex and concluded at Police Point. The programme opened with a band display by the 12th Battalion of the Assam Rifles, followed by an invocation by Rev. Wati, Associate Pastor, MTBA. The procession was formally flagged off by the Ex-Servicemen League, Mokokchung.
A special address was delivered at Police Point by Imkong L Imchen, MLA and Advisor for IPR and Soil & Water Conservation, Government of Nagaland. The march concluded with closing slogans led by the Ex-Servicemen League.
The event was jointly coordinated by the BJP Mokokchung District and the NDPP Mokokchung Region, with an organizing committee led by T Bendangyanger Jamir (Convener) and Jonathan Lemtur (Co-Convener). “The objective was to promote national unity, express solidarity with the armed forces, and reinforce patriotic values among the public,” the organizers said.
