Kiphire, April 5 (MExN): As part of the two-day training programme on value addition of horticulture crops, 50 students from Loyola Higher Secondary School and Government Higher Secondary School attended the training at DHO Office, Kiphire on April 5.

Addressing the gathering as a special guest, Lipichem, DPO, DoLR, said that horticulture was the nerve centre of human civilization. He acknowledged the Government of India, Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema for transfer of horticulture technology and its intervention in the remotest area of the country, where all the participants got exposed to different experiences on value addition of horticulture crops that would change the landscape of the district economy and the country as a whole.
“We should all pay special attention to the locally available crops of the district,” he asserted.

Resource persons, lead by Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Kiphire, Dr Bordoloi, Dr Manjunath, SMS Horti, Dr Sunil, SMS Agro, Dr Karibasappa, SMS Pathology and Alok Dube, SMS Agri Extension presented power point on various aspects of horticulture and its importance on value addition. Esther Francis from Linsi SHG gave a hands on demo and training on value addition of important horticulture crops to the participants.
According to DHO Kiphire, 100 participants were benefited during the two-day training sponsored by CIH, Medziphema held at Aspirational District of India, Kiphire, Nagaland.
