Tripura outplays Nagaland with 6-wicket win in NE Little Masters Trophy Opener

GUWAHATI, APRIL 26 (MExN): Tripura got off to a flying start in the inaugural NE Little Masters Trophy 2025, defeating Nagaland by six wickets in a dominant group-stage performance at the ACA Cricket Academy Ground, Fulung.

Tripura’s victory was set up by a clinical bowling display, spearheaded by Bihan Das, who ripped through Nagaland’s batting lineup with sensational figures of 4/7 in 6 overs. His fiery spell left Nagaland reeling and unable to recover after electing to bat first.

Nagaland were bowled out for just 72 runs in 30.1 overs, with only Eric Rupreo showing any resistance, scoring a brisk 25 off 21 balls. However, the lack of support from the other end meant the innings never gained momentum.

Chasing a modest target, Tripura did suffer minor hiccups but ultimately coasted to 74/4 in 15.1 overs, with Sriman Debnath playing a steady hand. His unbeaten 34 off 21 deliveries ensured there were no late surprises in what turned out to be a comfortable chase.

Despite the loss, Nagaland found some solace in Eric Rupreo’s all-round performance, as he also picked up 2 wickets for 10 runs in a tidy 6-over spell.

Bihan Das was adjudged Player of the Match for his game-changing bowling performance, laying the foundation for Tripura’s opening win in the tournament.
