Dimapur, June 5 (MExN): Two cadres of NSCN-K (Yung Aung) were reportedly killed during what it claimed to be a “well-coordinated ambush” by Indian security forces “near Langkhu village inside the Myanmar-occupied Nagaland.”
A press statement from the MIP, NSCN-K (Yung Aung), stated that the incident occurred around 10 AM when the Naga Army under Western Command came under heavy fire. It identified the cadres as “Major Nyaklung” and “Lance Corporal Neyung Aung.”
According to the MIP, despite being heavily outnumbered, Naga soldiers “put up a brave fight” for around one hour and retrieved the bodies of the cadres.
Meanwhile, the NSCN/GPRN and the Naga Army mourned the deaths of the two cadres and saluted what was termed the “extreme sacrifice for the cause of Naga sovereignty.”
The MIP also conveyed condolences to their bereaved family members.
“The Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Naga Army has posthumously promoted the brave soldiers to their respective next higher rank for their extraordinary bravery,” it added.
