UCO Bank holds MSME, retail and agriculture carnival in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT, NOVEMBER 18 (MExN): UCO Bank on Monday organised a Resource, MSME, Retail and Agriculture Carnival in Golaghat, which was attended by Deputy General Manager Chinmay Kumar Sahu from the bank’s head office in Kolkata. The camp aimed at extending need-based loans to new and existing customers to help expand businesses, generate employment and support socio-economic development.

Zonal Manager Narendra Pratap Singh formally inaugurated the programme with a welcome address. He said UCO Bank remained committed to serving customers in the Jorhat Zone and added that all customers were an integral part of the UCO family.

Singh informed that the bank was expanding its branch network in the Northeast and that a new branch would soon be opened in Bokakhat in Golaghat district. He also briefed customers on cyber-security precautions and highlighted the bank’s achievements, noting that the Jorhat Zone had sanctioned loans worth over Rs 443 crore to 6,448 beneficiaries during the 2025–26 financial year. The bank, he said, remained committed to Assam’s socio-economic development.

Deputy Zonal Head Hasan Ejaz Hashmi explained various retail loan products, including UCO Home Loan, UCO Car Loan, UCO Property Loan and UCO Education Loan. Amit Kumar, head of the MSME Hub, presented details of MSME-focused schemes such as UCO Unnati, UCO Vahan, UCO Yuva Shakti, UCO Nari Samman and UCO Abhinandan. He said financing the MSME sector was essential for creating large-scale employment.

In his address, DGM Sahu outlined UCO Bank’s performance in 2025–26, stating that deposits had crossed Rs 3.05 lakh crore, advances Rs 2.30 lakh crore, and total business Rs 5.36 lakh crore. 

Sahu said many of the bank’s loan products carried interest rates lower than those of other banks and added that UCO Bank had a strong presence in the Northeast. Customers, he said, could also access services digitally, including online applications for home, car, personal and education loans, and loan against term deposits. He highlighted the high user ratings of the bank’s mobile app and said UCO Bank was active on major social media platforms.

Urging customers to adopt digital banking for ease and time-efficiency, Sahu also shared updates on the Government of India’s financial inclusion saturation campaign. He later interacted with customers and collected feedback for service improvements. Branch Manager Kamlesh Bora, Assistant Branch Manager Sameer Das, and other officials from the Zonal Office were present.
