Kiphire, February 22 (MExN): The dedication programme of Morung and Logdrum at Nutsü village was held on February 21 with P Timong, President, Tikhir Tribal Council as the special guest.
Nutsü village was established in 2004 and recognised in 2012, got its first Morung (Atan Qiu) and Logdrum.
“Tikhir as a unique tribe with its distinct culture and tradition, it is the ethical value practiced by every tribesman of Tikhir villages. From village to the expansion of khels, morungs are constructed and new logdrums are maintained in each Morung,” a press release received here stated.
In his speech, the special guest said, “it is the duty of every village authorities to maintain a morung and logdrum which is the unique identity of Tikhir tribe and the educational hub enshrined since the ancestral period.”
The others speakers in the programme stressed on the importance of maintaining the rich culture of the tribe and maintain peace and unity among the tribe and with others as well.
Short speeches were delivered by Y Pongkiu, VCC Anatongre, K Kiusthong, President (TAGBA), LY Tokim, President (KAGBU), Temong Y Tikhir, President (TSU) and S Pentsu, VCC Nutsu.
