Usütomi Baptist Church on December 19 formally launched its pre-centennial jubilee celebrations with a Jubilee Run.
USÜTOMI, DECEMBER 19 (MExN): Usütomi Baptist Church on Friday formally launched its pre-centennial jubilee celebrations with a Jubilee Run, marking the beginning of a series of activities leading up to the church’s 100-year milestone in 2026.
Organised as a symbolic act of remembrance, thanksgiving and preparation for the centenary, the run witnessed participation of over 300 village members, including both young and elderly, who walked together from the village gate to the church premises.
Flagging off the programme, Planning Board chairman Joseph Hesso called upon the community to strive to be winners not only in their spiritual journey but also in life. He urged members to continue upholding values of love, unity and mutual respect, which he said had sustained the church and the community over the decades.
Following the run, a jubilee flag was unfurled at the church premises. This was accompanied by a symbolic act in which all village households raised white flags.
Elders above the age of 75, along with members of the Planning Board, later released pigeons to mark the occasion, signifying prayers of thanksgiving for the past and hope for a future guided by peace and unity. Usütomi Baptist Church is scheduled to celebrate 100 years of Christianity in December 2026.
