Wangnao tops Men’s 10km at Nagaland Cross Country Championships 2025

Participants at the Nagaland Cross Country Championships 2025 on December 18 at Ruovi’s The Palm, Model Village 5th Mile, Chümoukedima.

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, DECEMBER 18 (MExN): The Nagaland Athletics Association successfully conducted the Nagaland Cross Country Championships 2025 on December 18 at Ruovi’s The Palm, Model Village 5th Mile, Chümoukedima, with Ruovi’s The Palm as the venue partner.

The championship was held across multiple categories, including Senior Men and Women, Under-20 (Men and Women), Under-18 (Men and Women), and Under-16 (Boys and Girls), providing a competitive platform for athletes from across the state to demonstrate endurance and performance.

Junior category events were flagged off by Abu Metha, Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), Chairman of IDAN and Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, along with Neingulie Nakhro, Treasurer of the Nagaland Athletics Association. The senior category races were flagged off by Charlie Sekhose, proprietor of Ruovi’s The Palm, Senior Vice President of the Naga People’s Front and Chairman, Model Village, Chümoukedima.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Abu Metha; Charlie Sekhose; Ihoto K. Shohe, Councillor, Dimapur Municipal Council; and Shambhudas Bandopadhyay, AFI observer and World Athletics Silver Level Referee.

The championship was organised with the objective of identifying promising athletes and selecting potential runners for the upcoming 60th National Cross Country Championships 2025.

Results (Men – 10 km):
Nahtei N. Wangnao secured first place with a timing of 34:38.4, followed by Wede Tmero in second position at 35:04.3, while Kengimlunnghein Keditsu finished third with a time of 35:46.6.
