A conglomeration of organisations, including LPG distributors, in Mon has resolved to weigh refilled LPG cylinders before delivery to the consumer. The decision was made following what was stated to be numerous consumer complaints regarding the alleged distribution of underweight LPG cylinders in Mon.
It was decided at a combined meeting of the Mon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mon Town Council (MTC), Combined Ward Union Mon Town, GB Union Mon Town and the three LPG distributors located in Mon town, on February 22.
As per the “Minutes” of the meeting, the three LPG distributors were mandated to install weighing machines and compulsorily ascertain the weight of the refilled cylinders.
It said that the organisations in concert with the MTC and the district administration, and the LPG distributors, will weigh the cylinders before unloading to the godown. Any refilled cylinder failing the recommended weight will be turned back, it said.
