SOVIMA, NOVEMBER 15 (MExN): West Zone produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat North Zone by 25 runs and clinch the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy 2025 in a thrilling final held at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, on November 14.
A composed batting effort supported by disciplined bowling proved decisive as West Zone lifted the championship title.
After being sent in to bat first, West Zone put up an impressive 169/4 in 20 overs, built on crucial partnerships throughout the innings.
Humairaa Kaazi led from the front with a superb 58 off 44 balls, earning her the Player of the Match award for her steady, match-shaping knock.
T S Hasabnis added stability with a composed 43 off 35, guiding the middle phase. K P Navgire provided late-innings acceleration with a blistering 34 off 18 balls, shifting the momentum firmly in West Zone’s favour.
For North Zone, Nazma once again stood out with the ball, finishing with figures of 2/34 from her four overs and consistently troubling the opposition batters.
Chasing a target of 170, North Zone struggled to accelerate against West Zone’s clinical bowling unit. Ayushi Soni fought valiantly with an unbeaten 53 off 40 balls, holding the innings together.
However, frequent dot balls and sharp field placements by West Zone restricted scoring opportunities.
West Zone’s bowlers executed their plans with precision, maintaining tight lines and lengths to ensure North Zone remained behind the required rate throughout the chase.
K P Navgire was declared Player of the Series for her remarkable 245 runs in six matches, scoring at a strike rate of 177.53.
West Zone’s triumph brought to a close an exciting and highly competitive edition of the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy, showcasing top-tier women’s cricket and exceptional talent at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium.
