WOKHA, APRIL 5 (MExN): In view of the water scarcity in Wokha town and the significant reduction in water quantity in Etsutchukha water source leading to concerns over adequate water supply for public use, the Deputy Commissioner Wokha has issued strict guidelines to regulate and maintain judicious and hygienic use of water.
In an order, the DC has prohibited unauthorized drawing of water in any form like water pumps/water pipes at the source, with no exception for private entities, tanker trucks etc. It has prohibited washing of clothes or bathing at the water source.
The DC further emphasized that dumping of any kind of waste inside the Etsutchukha spring water compound is also strictly prohibited. Strict penal action will be initiated against defaulters.
In line with these measures, the DC has tasked the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Wokha to supervise and monitor to ensure strict compliance by all concerned and to impose punitive action against defaulters as per departmental set rules.
Further, the PHED Wokha has also been asked to bring out regulations and instructions regarding supply of water for consumers.
