Wokha NMBA workshop focuses on counseling and de-addiction efforts

Wokha, April 3 (MExN): Workshop cum training of Nash Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) for Master Volunteers (MV) was held at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Wokha on April 3. The event was organised by Wokha District NMBA in collaboration with SLCA, Kripa Foundation on the theme ‘Stronger Together, Action & Transformation.’ A DIPR report stated that delivering the key note address, DC Wokha Vineet Kumar, IAS said “the roles and responsibilities of the Master Volunteers is a challenging task as well as a wonderful opportunity because of the fact that their roles will change the lives of someone who have been under substance abuse.” He urged them to learn and know their roles by conducting on spot counseling for the identified users and guide them to the nearest counseling and de-addiction facility.  Encouraging the Master Volunteers to give their best in their venture, the DC Wokha said, “Your goal is not to transform the whole society but to try how much life you can transform.” Resource persons, Renbonthung Tungoe, Project Manager, Project Sashakt Kripa Foundation and Bendang Imsong Co-ordinator SLCA, Kripa Foundation spoke on the topic, what is NMBA and their roles of MV, types of drugs, effect and consequences, disease concept and treatment principals.  They stressed that their role as MV is to identify the vulnerable and at-risk groups and to interact and conduct awareness and capacity programme for them, to create team in the community who can further the NMBA campaign in the community, to maintain coordination and close liaison with District Administration and district level Nasha Mukt campaign committee, to maintain database of effected families, volunteers should also kept active linkage with ODIC, CPLI, SLCA, state government hospitals, PHC & IRCA Centre.
